1. Bright colours
Living Coral has recently been announced as Pantone’s colour of 2019, and you can be sure that it will be inspiring many brides-to-be. From bridesmaid dresses to floral arrangements, the options are infinite. Coral isn’t the only colour that will be having a moment this year: bright colours in general are proving more popular choices for décor and cakes, such as emerald, purple, turquoise and royal blue.
2. Ethical weddings
It’s becoming increasingly more important for couples to know exactly where and how their wedding elements are sourced, from the gown to the food, with a preference for seasonal and local produce. Plastic-free weddings are also on the up with eco-conscious couples, who now have more options than ever before.
3. Grazing tables
Grazing tables are fabulous options to keep your guests fed throughout the party, not to mention extremely Instagrammable food shots. As well as the ever-popular sweet bar and dessert table, more couples are now opting for a tiered cheese cake, charcuterie and fruit tables and coffee and cookie stations. These allow your guests to refuel during the party and if you want to showcase regional produce, to try the local specialities as they please.
4. Simple gowns
Inspired by the Duchess of Sussex, simple gowns are making a comeback. Think demure necklines, flowing styles and little detail. If you are looking for a scaled-back yet elegant gown, I would recommend researching French bridal designers, whose gowns are minimalistic yet luxurious.
It’s no longer just about the bride’s gown: menswear is having a moment, with sharp tailoring and three-piece suits at the forefront. The gents are also exploring texture and colour, with more and more grooms opting for velvet tuxedo jackets for their black-tie ceremonies, in colours from burgundy to emerald green.
2019 is pushing stationery further than ever before with the latest technology. Laser cut invitations, stitched fabric save-the-dates and place cards printed on wood, the humble piece of paper is getting a serious makeover. Be sure to extend this attention to detail to your envelopes, which can be printed on the inside, or closed with a custom wax seal.
