The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, Bath

The very fabulous City of Bath has been host to a number of salubrious residents over the ages.
Nestled away in the Avon Valley, this World Heritage site is renowned for its long and colourful history which from Roman times has centred around the natural resource of warm spa waters which seep endlessly from the ground, fabled for their special healing properties. Today Bath is particularly celebrated for its superb Georgian Architecture, its beautiful streets of honey coloured stone and some of the most Graceful, Elegant homes every built. None more so than those that belong to John Wood’s breath-taking Palladian masterpiece the ‘Royal Crescent’, possibly the most important building of its kind. Sitting proudly at the centre of this incredible building is non less than, the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa.
From the moment you arrive at the 5-star hotel Royal Crescent you know that you are entering a world of indulgence. From the valet parking, to the discreet check in, the hand-written name on your bedroom door and the sumptuous furnishings beyond. This is an iconic sanctuary in the heart of this most beautiful of cities.
And if that isn’t enough, the food served here is also, not surprisingly, equally divine! The Dower House Restaurant with its relaxed ambience overlooks the leafy, secluded, private gardens and boast 3 AA Rosettes. David Campbell is Head Chef here and has a passion for using fresh, locally sourced produce to create tantalising dishes that take you on an unforgettable culinary journey. We were visiting to celebrate my husband’s Demi-centenarian birthday, and as choosing would be far too tricky, we decided to push the boat out and opted for the seven-course tasting menu along with the suggested wine flight which was impeccably paired by the sommelier.
If you to are lucky enough to find yourself here in this most wonderful of destinations then I would urge you to not make the mistake of missing out on the Spa and Bath House (as we did!!!) Recently renovated, The Spa and Bath House offers a haven of tranquillity. Six treatment rooms, a 12-metre relaxation pool, a vitality pool, a Himalayan Sauna, Herbal steam inhalation room and a fitness suite. All at the disposal of the hotel’s guests. We sadly missed out as we had places to be and so weren’t blessed with the time to pamper ourselves further.
If you are looking for an indulgent treat then The Royal Bath Crescent is definitely worth a visit. This isn’t a budget trip by any stretch of the imagination …….. but by golly It is worth every penny!
