One of our fave weekends is coming up, when the hip and fabulous creative folk of Ouseburn, Newcastle, open their studios for all manner of fun.
Ouseburn Open Studios returns on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March, 10am-5pm on both days, and offers a unique insight into the working world of more than 100 local artists and designer-makers.
Running for more than 20 years, Ouseburn Open Studios is a chance for the public to meet local makers, buy or commission work directly from artists, and go behind the scenes.
Five venues from across the Ouseburn – located a short 15-minute walk from Newcastle city centre – are taking part in this spring’s event including The Biscuit Factory, Northern Print, Jim Edwards Studio, Mushroom Works and 36 Lime Street.
Sim Zack, project coordinator of Ouseburn Open Studios, told us: “Our spring event allows visitors to really explore what the Ouseburn and each different venue has to offer. Get a rare glimpse into the artist’s world – whether that’s discovering brand new works being made in the studios or booking onto a workshop and trying your hand at making something yourself!
“The Ouseburn Open Studios spring event is not only a great way for the public to support their local creative community but also a perfect opportunity to purchase or even commission original artwork directly from the artists themselves!”
Ouseburn Open Studios is open to the public and is free to attend. For more information on the line-up, visit www.ouseburnopenstudios.org.
